Baltic festival of Science which is a compilation of events organized by scientific centres takes place in Spring in Poland annually. This year’s edition held on 31th of May was totally hot! Gdynia Aquarium showed to large public some of the invasive species and revealed baltic monsters.
We had designed and execute a wave-machine which is a three-dimensional model showing how wave arise and influence it has on the costal zone, plants and animals. It is a part of permanent exposition in Gdynia Aquarium.
Moreover, during the Festival we had an event called “what you didn’t know about the Baltic” – invasive and alien species were exposed to large public.
Baltic prawns and shrimps were another part of that day’s exposition. People could get to know species of prawn living in the Baltic Sea, their behavior and how to tell differences between species. What was interesting, most of the visitors did not have any clue that prawns live in our sea so they were quite surprised. We believed that part of the exposition was the most educational and useful.
. “Kids’ area” with the access to Baltic legends and marine fairytales was a place where MONSTERS hide. There were contests, games and shows for children - an event connected with The Child Day celebration.
