Joint Event with external actor public organization “Benthos” Presentation "Hydronaut" & public talk with Hydronauts was held on December, 14th, 2009, at IBSS. This event brought together the veterans of the Base of Sea Exploration Fleet and Manned Submersibles “HYDRONAUT” and the wide Sevastopol public, interested in the history of the deep-sea exploration in the USSR.
The multimedia presentation “HYDRONAUT” (authors: Vladimir Mukhanov, Anatoly Pomozov, Antonina Khanaychenko, Oleg Donets) was released at this event and the talks of the public with invited Hydronaut speakers (see it at this site: Part I, Part II, Part III) were held. In the introductory talk, Vladimir Mukhanov overviewed the history of MS – bathyspheres, hydrostates and bathyscaphes, in the USSR and abroad. Afer a short video on submersibles of the Base “HYDRONAUT”, Oleg Donets, the captain of the Manned Submersible “Sever-2”, provided more details on the MS construction, specifications and application in sea research. Hydronaut-explorers Alexander Semyonov and Anatoly Pomozov told about little-known research missions of the Base submersibles up to 2000 m depths in different regions of the World Ocean.
