We asked our audience: do you agree that seas have sustained mankind since its very beginning? And we obtained a very high consensus (up to 88% of responders aged >18). Yes, man has always relied on seas for several reasons and, among them, to get food and products. Fishing is one of the most ancient strategies for mankind to feed, and dates back long before agriculture. Of course, techniques have much improved and now we could even collect all the fish in the sea, a phenomenon called "overfishing".Read more |

Outdoor lessons “Wintering waterbirds of Sevastopol Bays” were held by scientists of the Institute of Biology of Southern Seas for 12-15 years old scholars.
Now in the Galata Maritime Museum there is a small section dedicated to the fish of the North, with panels, pictures, and a video!

Part III of the widescreen (1366 x 768 pixels) multimedia presentation "HYDRONAUT" is about a fleet of the manned submersibles exploited by the Base "HYDRONAUT" and hydronauts - the peoples who spent their lifes to explore the Abyss.
