During January - February 2010, 4Seas Events on the joint Theme "History of Marine Research and Marine Expeditions” were held in the assembly hall of the Institute of Biology of Southern Seas (Sevastopol, Ukraine) with wide public interested in the Marine Biology Research and Marine Expeditions |

What is marine science? Shall we better call it "Marine sciences"? Do "seas" and "science" go well toghether? These key-questions are at the basis of 4SEAS, and we also asked you to express your point of view when answering our questionnaires at the beginning of the project. According to our audience response, science and seas make sense together for the large majority of responders (overall, around 75-80% of responders according to age). The grand opening of 4seas project took place in Gdynia Aquarium on Saturday, 4th April 2009. We had prepared ecological workshops and interactive games concerning sailor’s chest. Events were dedicated to primary school children.

Now in the Galata Maritime Museum there is a small section dedicated to the fish of the North, with panels, pictures, and a video!

Teenagers learned on this ecological lesson that destroying an individual algal specimen means killing not only the alga but also about 50 species of microscopic animals for which the alga is a ‘tiny house’!
